Q.
My daughters attend private school and are required to wear uniforms.
Where can I find reasonably priced school uniform basics like pants,
skirts and shirts?
A. Good question. Many parents think since their child needs school uniforms they must buy from the school's uniform vendor but many schools will let you buy your own un-logoed basics. Now is a good time to buy these basics because it's actually a little past the back-to-school season so merchants have discounted their uniform essentials. Nordstrom actually has many basics on sale right now. This simple pair of pants is 50% off at $14 and Nordstrom has polo shirts for just $9 as well as many other items.
Q. Keeping my children
warm is very difficult because
they do not like to wear jackets. What is a good alternative?
A.
Often, children do not like to wear jackets because they are bulky, hard
to move in and usually look really boring. A great alternative to
keeping your children warm during the colder days of the new school year
are vests. Vests are very fashionable for children this season so buy a
couple and encourage your child to wear them alternating each day with a
different vest. Vests keep the most important area of the body warm and
those who wear vests often notice they stay warmer overall compared to a
typical jacket. I personally love this
GapKids Diamond quilted puffer vest in sugar cookie white. It also comes in
a chocolate shade which is another superb basic color that will go with
just about anything.

Q:
I love seeing my daughter wear dresses but now that fall is around the
corner, is there a way she can wear dresses but still stay warm?
A: Yes, of course. Children's fashions are so versatile that your daughter will be able to wear dresses any time of the year. During fall and winter she can wear a dress layered over a long sleeve and either tight leggings or jeans. I love Tea Collection's new line called Nihon which is inspired by the Japanese. For girls they offer 4 dress styles that can worn over pants. To the right you can see the Moriko Jersey Dress coupled with a simple cotton tee and french terry pants.
